Parish News & Events

Please could Parishioners get any material for weekly News Sheets to the Parish office by Wednesday evenings.

We generally do an update for this web page on Friday evening…. or maybe Saturday morning if webmaster gets home from work  too late!

Our online calendar is set out in the tab “Parish News and Events” - or you can click through to Google Calendar.

This week’s news?…well, actually there are no new items to post up here this week.   Meanwhile, the Alpha course continues (see below) and several Events are also listed - please scroll down this page

Pray for St. Nicholas

There is an opportunity to pray for St. Nicholas, the various initiatives in the church, the Alpha course, and the growth of our church. This is a weekly half hour meeting in the Smee room on Tuesday 11-11:30am.  Prayer is a key element in all we do, so please come and join us, as we ask for God’s blessing and guidance.

Wintershall Nativity Play

The Wintershall Nativity Play is on Friday 15th December and tickets are £18 or £9 for children. This year, Linda Lambert at the URC Speer Road is organising the trip, and will need to know numbers (and receive payment please). Please contact Linda directly on 0208 398 1476 or via email lindamlambert@aol.com

Thank You

Last Sunday, I received a totally unexpected and undeserved present and cake! Our famous patissiere really pushed the boat out! Thank you all so much.  Barbara.

Alpha Course.

There is no Alpha Course this week. Alpha will recommence next week Monday 30th October at 7:30pm with ‘Why and how to pray and read the Bible’.

The Alpha Course

The Alpha Course continues on Mondays 7:30pm in the church hall. This week’s (October 2) topic is ‘Who is Jesus?’.  If you haven’t done Alpha before, please do consider coming, and also who you might invite to come with you. Alpha begins with a meal, a short talk on some aspect of Christianity, followed by discussion in small groups, and it’s entirely free. Talk to Sarb or Andrew if you are interested in coming, or have any questions.

We also need people to volunteer to cook.  Sign up sheets at the back of church.

Last week’s or prior news repeated:

Changing our Sunday morning services

From January 2018 we are planning to move to three morning services:

  8:00 a.m. BCP Holy Communion;

  9:30 a.m. Informal service and

11:15 a.m. Traditional service.

There is a phamphlet available at the back of church explaining the rationale behind this change, and hopefully answers any questions you might have.

Choir Practices

Choir Practices have resumed every Thursday in church at 7pm. New members are always welcome – please just turn up on the day. With many thanks – Reuben.

St Nicholas’ Parents and Toddlers

St Nicholas’ Parents and Toddlers group is at 9:30am in the church hall. Elaine Heptonstall needs another volunteer to help with teas and coffees. The commitment would be only once every five weeks for 2 hours on Thursday mornings. If you feel you would like to get involved please call Elaine on 0208 398 7211

Howlers?

You, dear reader, appear to have scrolled down to the far reaches of this page—so you may be an observant type. If you have noticed any mistakes, errors, omissions—or even howlers, I would consider it a kindness if you were to let me (Martin Perrin -see tab “Contact us, map”), know  - there is a bottle of wine in it for the first person to do so in a month.
