Please could Parishioners get any material for weekly News Sheets to the Parish office by Wednesday evenings.  

We generally do an update for this web page on Friday evening…. or maybe Saturday morning if webmaster gets home from work  too late!

Shirely Hayman

It is with great sadness we announce that Shirley Hayman died at home on Monday April 9. Our prayers and love go to Robin, Tim and the rest of her family at this time.


Annual Parish Council Meeting

The APCM will be on Sunday April 29, after the morning services so later than past years.  Anyone on the electoral roll of the church is entitled to attend and to cast a vote. Sandwich lunch will be served after the meeting.


Bereavement café

Training for those who have indicated an interest in helping with the bereavement café will take place on Friday May 18 and 25.  Rev. Steve Nolan, chaplain at Princess Alice Hospice will be leading.

Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid Week this year is May 13-19. We will be doing house to house collections, and at the station. If you would like to assist with this year’s collection contact me at giles.andre@btinternet.com Many thanks. Giles

 

Garden of Remembrance

Church Electoral Roll 

The Church Electoral Roll of St Nicholas Thames Ditton Parish is being revised by the Parochial Church Council. If you would like be added, please fill in a form, available at the back of church and send it to the Parish Office by April 13. Anyone on the electoral roll of the church is entitled to attend the APCM on April 29 and to cast a vote.

 

Churches Together Post-Easter celebration supper

Our annual churches together celebration will take place at the Speer road URC church on April 27 at  7pm for 7:30pm. Sign up sheet at the back of church. £7 or bring a salad / main / dessert for six people.


Confirmation

Are you interested in being confirmed? There is a confirmation service taking place at Holy Trinity Church Claygate on 15th May. If are would like to be confirmed please talk to Andrew or Sarb.


Exploring faith

Would you like a chance to go through one of the eye-witness testimonies of Jesus’ life? Sarb would love to meet up and study Mark’s gospel with you. We can do this over a drink in the evening or over coffee on Saturday morning. If you would like to do this please contact Sarb.

 

Parents and Toddlers

The Thursday morning P&T group  broke up on Thursday 29 for Easter. They will meet again as usual on Thursday April 19.

We will visit both the RC cathedral and the Anglican parish church, and explore the competing narratives of our churches since the Reformation reflecting on Christs’s call ‘that we may be one, that the world may believe.’ More details soon, but please sign the sheet at the back of church if you are interested in more information.


Music group

Do you have any musical talents? We are hoping to start a music group to lead our sung worship at the 9:30am service in the new year. If you are interested in getting involved, do please talk to the vicar.

4 o'clock service   

Since last October we have been holding our new monthly afternoon service aimed at families.  The service takes place in the church hall, and is fun, informal, interactive, and has special things such as puppets, a bible story, prayer and worship, and it ends with a meal!  Come along and see for yourself.


Tots Praise 

Tots praise is a fun and lively service with songs, stories, prayers and lots of fun for babies and children up to 5 years old and their carers. This runs on the second Thursday of the month at 9.30 am in St Nicholas Church. Please speak to Katie Traub if you have any queries 0208 224 2880.


Sunday School

Please note that Children’s Sunday School is now held in the Church Hall every third and fourth Sunday in the month during the 10 a.m. service. 


 

Reminders

Gift Aid/Church Giving at St Nicholas

If you are a visitor or church member who does not belong to our freewill offering scheme and are a taxpayer, it would help us enormously if you could you put your gift to our church in one of the white envelopes found on the pews. Please make sure your full name and address and signature are included as we cannot claim the tax back from the Exchequer without this information  Thank you.

If you would like to be on a mailing list for News from St Nicholas, just sign up! To sign up, email news@stnicholaschurch.org.uk  – and in the email, just type “yes please, opt-in” in the subject header. No prose necessary in the body of the email. 

 If you are on the electoral roll we would also like to have your email address. This would not only save much valuable time in the office but also make a big saving on postage. Please let the parish office have your details by email.

We will add you to our mailing list for Parish News and may use it for other Parish affairs. However we will NOT sell or distribute parishioners’ email addresses to outside parties.

 If you want to opt out, all you need to do is to email me again at the news@stnicholaschurch.org.ukemail address with the header Opt Out and we will of course promptly take you off.

You, dear reader, appear to have scrolled down to the far reaches of this page—so you may be an observant type.
